I wrote this song at the end of 2001. I hope it speaks (sings) for itself. I tried to imagine (from five people's point of view) what it would be like to be in the building at that time.
REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 2001
WELL JENNY WAS SITTING WITH A PEN IN HER HAND SHE WAS THINKING ABOUT HER AND HER MAN
SHE LOOKED OUT OF THE WINDOW FROM THE EIGHTY-SECOND FLOOR AND WHAT SHE SAW SHE’D NEVER SEEN BEFORE
FLYING STRAIGHT AT THE BUILDING SHE WAS IN WAS A JUMBO JET PLANE WHAT A TERRIFYING DIN.
REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 2001.
WELL PAUL HAD ARRIVED AT WORK THAT DAY WONDERING IF HIS BOSS HAD INCREASED HIS PAY
HAD JUST ENTERED HIS OFFICE ….HAD JUST CLOSED THE DOOR WHEN HE HEARD AN EXPLOSION FROM ANOTHER FLOOR
HE NEVER QUITE NEW WHAT THE TERRORISTS HAD DONE AS THE CEILING COLLAPSED …NO CHANCE TO EVEN RUN
REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 2001.
WELL JOHN WAS AT THE TOP OF THE NORTH TWIN TOWER A COMPANY DIRECTOR AT THE HEIGHT OF HIS POWER
THE LAST CALL MADE ON HIS CELLULAR PHONE WAS TO HIS WIFE JAN WHO WAS WITH THEIR SON ALL ALONE
‘THE SMOKE IS GETTING THICK DEAR FORGIVE ME FOR ALL’ BUT THE PHONE WENT DEAD THE END OF THE CALL
REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 2001
WELL JANE WAS ENTERING FROM THE STREET BELOW WHEN SHE LOOKED UP AND SAW THAT FIRE BALL GLOW
SHE RAN INSIDE AND SHOUTED TO ALL ‘LETS GET OUT OF HERE IN CASE IT MIGHT FALL’
LITTLE DID SHE KNOW WHEN SHE MADE THAT SHOUT THAT 4000 INSIDE WOULD NEVER GET OUT
REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 2001.
MAX WAS A FIREMAN ……..SEEN IT ALL BEFORE HE’D BEEN IN THE ARMY SURVIVED THE VIETNAM WAR
JUST HAS HIS COFFEE WHEN HE HEARD THE FIRE BELL RAN INTO THE TRADE CENTRE RUSHED IN TO THAT HELL
